A Highly Decreased Binding of Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate to Protein Kinase A in Erythrocyte Membranes is Specific for Active Psoriasis
2002
A cyclic adenosine monophosphate binding abnormality in psoriatic erythrocytes that could be corrected by retinoid treatment has been reported. It was tested whether this binding abnormality is specific for psoriasis and the effects of treatment were compared with etretinate, cyclosporine A, or anthralin on 2-(3)H-8-N(3)-cyclic adenosine monophosphate binding to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A in erythrocyte membranes. One hundred and fifteen individuals were evaluated, including: (i) 34 healthy persons; (ii) 15 patients with nonatopic inflammatory skin diseases (eczema, erythroderma, tinea, Grover's disease, erysipelas, urticaria); (iii) eight with other dermatoses mediated by i…
Erythema nodosum-like lesions during BRAF inhibitor therapy: Report on 16 new cases and review of the literature.
2015
Importance BRAF inhibitors have been licensed for the therapy of BRAF-mutated melanoma. Recently, inflammatory skin lesions clinically resembling erythema nodosum have been reported as therapy side-effects that may lead to treatment discontinuation. Objective To identify and characterize cases with BRAF inhibitor-associated erythema nodosum-like inflammatory skin lesions and development of an algorithm for their management. Design and Setting Retrospective chart review of melanoma patients treated with BRAF inhibitors in 14 departments of Dermatology in Germany and Austria and PubMed search for cases in the literature. Results Sixteen patients were identified who developed erythema nodosum-…
P114 A screening tool for the early diagnosis of extraintestinal manifestations in inflammatory bowel disease: the EMAIL questionnaire
2020
Abstract Background Data on prevalence of extraintestinal manifestations (EIMs) in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) range from 6% up to 47%. Recently, several red flags and questionnaires have been proposed for early diagnosis of articular manifestations. Our aim was to analyse the prevalence of EIMs in a single-centre prospective cohort, using a comprehensive questionnaire developed by our group to detect all EIMs (EMAIL questionnaire). Methods Patients with IBD attending our Clinic from November 2017 to January 2019 were interviewed using a two-part questionnaire, the first part for clinical-demographic data and the second part for EIMs. Patients positive to screening were referred for mu…
Massive gastrointestinale Blutung eines 28-jährigen Patienten mit intestinalem Befall eines Morbus Behçet
2006
A 28-year-old man was admitted to the emergency room of our hospital after syncope and acute gastrointestinal bleeding. On the basis of numerous oral and genital ulcerations as well as uveitis anterior and erythema nodosum, the diagnosis of Behcet's disease had been confirmed previously. The bleeding focus could not be detected by endoscopy. During the next days recurrent massive hemorrhages occurred in spite of immunosuppressive therapy with steroids. Angiography revealed a circumscribed bleeding source in the colon transversum near the left colonic flexure, which was treated by superselective coil embolization. A massive hemorrhage reoccurred and required a surgical approach with a Hartma…
